Attorney Consulting & Case Referral Services
Equipped To Assist Your Law Firm With Complex Legal Matters
Barber Law in Louisville is an established litigation firm with a statewide record of success in personal injury and civil litigation. Trial lawyers David Bryce Barber and Beth Barber have prevailed in state and federal courtrooms across Kentucky, and before the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
We regularly lend our expertise to other law firms across Kentucky and throughout the United States. In particular, we enjoy assisting or taking the lead in Dram Shop and negligent security cases. Our attorneys offer sophisticated litigation support services to assist with a complex case or niche area of the law.
And we welcome referrals of personal injury cases if you do not have the capacity to take it on yourself. Often there are important steps to take in the early stages of accepting a case which can affect the outcome and value of the case. Please get in touch to discuss how we can help you serve your clients.
Litigation Consulting And Co-Counsel
We assist small firms/solo practitioners, as well as larger firms considering bringing in outside counsel. Barber Law provides the full palette of guidance and legal support, depending on your needs:
- Local counsel affiliation – If you are located out-of-state, we can assist with the details of filing suit in courts of Kentucky and the requirement to associate pro hac vice with a local firm.
- Co-counsel services – Our trial lawyers have litigated throughout Kentucky and in jurisdictions nationwide, from next door in Indiana to as far away as the U.S. Virgin Islands. We can travel to serve as second chair litigators, lead negotiators, practice area consultants, or in whatever capacity you require.
- Legal research and appellate briefs – You have the full resources of our firm and our trial attorneys’ collective wisdom at your disposal for the litigation support you need to advocate effectively for your clients.
Do You Have A Personal Injury Case To Refer Out?
Barber Law has broad experience in personal injury and wrongful death litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, products liability, medical malpractice, railroad worker injuries (FELA), and other negligence claims, including lawsuits for legal malpractice. Our experience extends to insurance coverage claims, multi-district litigation (MDL) and other complexities of personal injury law. If you do not typically take these cases or you are stretched too thin to do the case justice, we can discuss a fair arrangement to take on the case and take care of the client.
Our firm has had particular success with Dram Shop liability and negligent security cases. People are all too frequently injured or killed when irresponsible businesses break safety rules for the service of alcohol, service to minors, or the protection of patrons. We are extremely familiar with the many sources of rules which can help these clients. Our niche focus in these specialized cases gives your client the best shot at justice, and is an example of an area which requires immediate action to preserve and gather evidence which otherwise disappears.
We are also comfortable with complex and high-profile litigation, including politically sensitive cases in communities when it would be uncomfortable for a local attorney.
Battle-Tested And At Your Service
Our attorneys are a husband-and-wife team who have built a career as trial lawyers with solid experience in coordinating efforts with legal peers.
David Barber, our firm’s founder, honed his trial skills through years in the courtroom, as a prosecutor and trial attorney in Louisville and across Kentucky. He has tried cases in federal and state courts since 1994, taking on insurers and multinational corporations. He has presented at seminars and written articles published in Kentucky and nationally. Most recently, his articles and presentations for the Kentucky Justice Association have included use of experts in Dram Shop litigation, changes in Dram Shop law and strategies, and screening medical negligence cases.
Beth Barber has continued to develop her courtroom experience ever since she was admitted to prosecute a high-profile murder case while still in law school. She has litigated civil and criminal cases in numerous Kentucky counties. She is also a trained domestic relations mediator, and has developed great experience in handling amounts received from personal injury settlements or trials in the context of divorce and property settlement.
